Entrepreneur, builder, storyteller, and habitual trail-seeker.
I’m Ryan – amateur photographer, backpacker, boater, and builder by instinct. I’ve spent years growing a regional internet service provider and learned that experience doesn’t eliminate uncertainty – it just changes how you face it.
Now I’m starting two new projects: Campyn, an outdoor travel platform, and Unstable Chapters, a candid look at what it means to build businesses, relationships, and a meaningful life while the outcome is still uncertain.
This site is where those worlds meet – along with family adventures, photography, field notes, stories from the road, lessons from building companies, and the occasional project I’ve modified well beyond what was probably necessary. Mostly, it’s a place for whatever seems worth experiencing, examining, or remembering.
Atlas Networks is the company I’ve spent much of my career building: a regional internet service provider working to prove that an ISP can genuinely care about its customers. Atlas is the long-running chapter – the growth, failures, difficult decisions, and continuing push to build a better company.
Campyn is a new outdoor travel project for RV and trailer campers (and probably more) who want to explore beyond the campground. It will begin as a field publication and podcast, combining useful trip intelligence with photography, history, interviews, hikes, campground discoveries, and the practical realities of life on the road.
Over time, Campyn will grow into a planning and storytelling platform designed to help people plan the camp, explore farther, and keep the story.
Unstable Chapters – launching soon – is the candid story Andrea and I are telling about building businesses, navigating an intertwined personal and professional partnership, and trying to create a meaningful life before we know how the story ends. Andrea is my best friend and Atlas’s director of operations, so our lives have a habit of blurring the lines between business, friendship, and whatever comes next. Unstable Chapters will bring those stories together through writing, podcasts, and interviews.
The three projects are closely connected. Atlas provides the long-running story. Campyn gives us a chance to start again from a blank page. Unstable Chapters documents the decisions, disagreements, experiments, missteps, and breakthroughs as they happen.
